BEGINNING.

When he had just turned twenty-five, Richard Grayson vanished off the face of the Earth. This was the will of the Court of Owls, who had finally moved to take what they thought belonged to them. Of course, with this came months of brainwashing & cruel torture. When satisfied with the amounts of mortal pain, they killed him. The Court creates their talons through the use of specially prepared electrum, & Dick's experience was no different. The chemical granted him enhanced speed, strength, hearing & eyesight, with immortality being the most significant boon. Physical side effects included unnaturally pale skin, blackened facial veins & gold eyes. However, there was also an unexpected psychological one— the creation of two separate & free thinking mentalities. The activated electrum was expected to replace Dick completely with the mentality of a loyal talon. Dubbed Talon, for simplicity. While Talon was able to make himself at home in the body's mind, Dick's conscious was not completely eradicated. It was instead simply shoved aside. While Dick does not hold a strong amount of influence, Talon can still hear his voice & occasionally Dick's willings will pop up in Talon's actions. After the bodily revival was complete, Talon went through several other processes to assure his loyalty, as well as brutal forms of training that would kill any normal human. In example, learning how to fight while dismembered or gutted was not unusual. It was not long after that they began subjecting him to their orders, as the Court's crown jewel— the Gray Son of Gotham. Talon suffered a year and a half of physical, mental & sexual abuse at the hands of his masters, but paid it no mind due to his extreme case of Stockholm Syndrome. He'd been taught that as a talon, he was less than human, not more than a belonging given the privilege of serving the Owls. Believing it was no issue, he felt nothing but extreme love for the Court.

It was in the first of those last six months that Talon happened to meet the Joker for the first time. Intending to kill the clown, something prevented him & the blows in a planned dance with death never came. The two kept coming across each other & the Joker found himself both intrigued & enamored by Talon's affinity for slaughter and torture. The assassin was a natural & not to mention immortal. A being of beautiful ability, a useful ally, perhaps even a god to worship. That's what he began to refer to Talon as— a god of death, with the potential for chaos, if he embraced it. The Court held him back on a tight leash, one that prevented him from blossoming into full power, collared by extensive abuse. Talon ignored these outlandish claims, for the most part. He was a talon & a talon's only purpose was to serve his masters. But something about being told he could be more... being called a god. It felt good, in contrast to all the times he'd been reminded he was lower than an animal. It made him realize that perhaps there lie no destiny with the Owls, and perhaps he was human after all. Perhaps they'd even made him more than human. His denial persisted for six months, but eventually, a smitten Talon took the clown's words to heart and ran away with him. Falling fast in love, he grew to know and enjoy the Joker's definition of fun, taking easily to it. An extreme god complex grew within him, thanks to his immortality & the words of who he dubbed his Prince. Never again would he return to the Court of Owls. The lowly & greedy rich of Gotham did not deserve him. Talon has spent his time since then as a criminal menace, at the side of him & Harley. Eventually, he & the latter also fell for each other, realizing such during one of the clown prince's extended stays at Arkham. Complicated? Sure, but a triangle can bend into a heart if one tries hard enough.

The body of what was once a hero now exists as Gotham's Golden God, a self-absorbed and overly flirtatious being of chaos & death. These are his glory days, * Dick's voice is nothing more than an irritation.
